DROUGHT WATCH 2008

In conjunction with AWA’s Mission and Purpose to specifically “Promote water conservation and reclamation endeavors” and “Provide a forum for exchange of information affecting the total water resources of Ventura County” …

The AWA Board of Directors has given top priority to disseminating public information on the critical issues facing our water supply and distribution system.

Through AWA’s campaign DROUGHT WATCH 2008, plans are in process for drought/water conservation updates, programs and workshops, throughout the entire year, via existing AWA informational forums such as the monthly Water Wise, monthly Water Issues Committee, quarterly Water Systems workshops, Annual Water Symposium (April 17), as well as media events, mailings, website postings, and the AWA WaterLog newsletter.

Additionally, under AWA’S DROUGHT WATCH 2008 there is an active committee in place currently working on a series of Recycled Water Education Workshops - free to attend - for public information as it relates to the drought, water conservation, supply and quality issues. These workshops are scheduled to occur throughout the year (Mar 5, July 2, Sept 3, Nov 5).

AWA is also planning other informational workshops and tours under this campaign to be announced.

AWA will be kicking off DROUGHT WATCH 2008 at the January 24 WaterWise Breakfast program in Oxnard.
